I already wrote about Spirit of the West, a while ago now.
Recently, while following the typical internet (as you do) progression of: my bass-playing colleagues > Chapman Stick > Hugh McMillan, I discovered that the 'main man' of Spirit of the West had 'come out' as diagnosed with Alzheimer.
Tragic for anyone, but for a master wordsmith...
I quoted some lyrics last time, here's some more, that I still know almost by heart:
Daisy's dead
"She flew home in the hull of a jet
Between the bags and the family pets
And no one came to offer tea
And the movie that she never saw
was one she'd wanted to see".
Finally, here are some of his latest (not easy to read, but worth the effort).
