No to nuclear! ...

This anti-nuclear rennaissance makes me despair of democracy and the 'intelligence of the masses'.

So you want to stop all nuclear power stations?

Fine. But we'll probably have to cut off power every night. Bummer for the telly, internet acces. Oh, and your fridge and freezer too.

And you'll have to stop campaigning every time they want to build a wind farm near your house. And voting against coal-powered electricity. And complaining about wars for oil.

And you'll have to pedal to recharge your electric cars.

After the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, there were people out on the streets marching against BP, but I don't recall anyone marching against oil in general.

Beats me...

(I'm not saying that nuclear power is without risk or has no associated problems, but the headless-chicken mass hysteria drives me nuts).

Holiday

Well I'm back again with some more photos - after a week off I've managed to stockpile some more, and got a bit of associated inspiration.

The school rabbit - Simba - is spending his holidays with us. Here he is in the garden being admired by Kalia and Rebecca.

This year has been very very dry so far - barely rained in months, and not much snow before that. It's difficult to regret that when you're on holiday, but I do find it a bit worrying all the same.

Flat Stanley

Did you ever read the children's book Flat Stanley? Well he's come to visit us, all the way from Santa Rosa in California, where Sophie goes to school. He's spending a few weeks with us, then going back with some souvenir photos.

Here, Kalia took him when she up the mountain to pick flowers with Romain.

New look

There are now five new ways to see this blog. I've had a look and it doesn't handle the little flag photos very well, but it's interesting all the same.

Last post about the motor show. This time not much to do with cars though. I wondered how these enormous big screens worked - here's the one on the Saab stand.

When I went up for a closer look, I discovered that it was actually an array of millions three-colour LEDs.

Et derrière des énormes bancs de contrôleurs.
And behind an enormous rack of controllers.

Finally, popups as seen by Rolls Royce.

Salon Auto 11

Nice effect on the Morgan stand, the veneer parquet curves up into a seat shape.

Nice three wheelers on the Morgan stand. Not taken from a very good angle, because the wheel you see at the back is on the other vehicle behind.

Apparently Mayback is the luxury range of Mercedes. I thought Mercedes was luxury! In the background you can just about make out the rich Russian (I imagine), with his peroxide blonde trophy wife. A bit a of a stereotype.

The only thing that impressed me about this Jaguar was its incredible... blueness.

Salon Auto 10

La Bugatti - 23 au cent, "déjà vendue".
Bugatti, 11 miles to the gallon, "already sold".

Pagani, a make I didn't even knew existed.

Voiture type navette spatiale.
Spaceship-like car.

I think this is probably the car that impressed me the most. The Citroen Metropolis - very nice lines.
