Hong Kong Day 4

On our last morning in Hong Kong, Robert took me for a walk up to a nearby hill where there was an amazing (though hazy) view.

Meanwhile Rebecca had made friends with the neighbour's dog (and possibly its owner).

Our aim for the day was to visit Ocean Park, (which is too expensive and not worth the money, in case you wondered). This was a funny looking sea horse.

OK, let me revise my previous statement. It would have been totally worth the money (though less of) to just visit the aquarium part, but not the 'amusement park' stuff.

The biggest rays we've ever seen.

The cable car ride was ok. They have a complicated system of extra transport options that you have to pay for up-front, and then keep track of when you're moving around.

By the way, it's so hot and clammy there that when we walked out the door, our hosts lent us each a 'brow mopping' flannel.

Watching the snow foxes being fed was pretty cute too.

The cold-to-humid transition had comical effects.

This photo was taken at Kalia's request, specially for the cousins.

On a pris la grande roue ensemble.
We went on a big wheel together too.

Rebecca ready in the departure lounge the same evening, ready for the overnighter back to Swissland.

After our 11-odd-hour flight, we were sort-of-happy to make it back to our own view.

Three testament Bible

This is VERY worth a read.
"Nevertheless we now live at the fortunate time when the prince has, after many adventures, imprisoned the giant and is, perhaps, just about to marry the princess. And that more or guarantees that they will all live happily ever after eventually. But perhaps not before one or two more adventures, in which we ouselves may well be characters."

Hong Kong Day 3

Day 3 in Hong Kong was a 'quiet' day. Our hosts were back, and their jet lag with them, so we kept a low profile, and I took the girls down to the beach-side play area to let off some steam.

We walked to Stanley - much to Rebecca's disgust, as it was hot, and we took a wrong turn or two on the way. But all was put to rights with a milkshake from MacDonalds. The girls went for a little scramble on the rocks on the beach.

We visited the tourist-trap market, where I almost fell for a virtual laser-projected keyboard (for which I have no use).

In the evening we went out for more western food with Claire and Robert.

Western food in a restaurant with mostly westerners, as the prices were pretty astronomical compared to the local restaurants we visited the previous days.

Des poubelles à recyclage très joliment décorées.
Rather beautifully decorated (and apparently brand new) recycling bins.
