Not worth living ...

Cité ici (in English)
‘The beginnings at first were merely a subtle shift in emphasis in the basic attitude of the physicians. It started with the attitude, basic in the euthanasia movement that there is such a thing as a life not worthy to be lived. This attitude in its early stages concerned itself merely with the severely and chronically sick. Gradually the sphere of those to be included in this category was enlarged to encompass the socially unproductive, the ideologically unwanted, the racially unwanted and finally all...’

Nearly Swiss ... Swissitude

Wow! 11 days with no posts, definitely not acceptable.

Just so's you know, yesterday we passed the last hurdle towards getting red passports. Well, that's not entirely true. We went to be grilled by members of the council who have to check how 'integrated' we are. For this we had to swot up on the geography, history, culture and politics of our town, but also region and the whole country.

We didn't know everything there was to be known, but apparently we knew enough. This is the last 'unknown' hurdle (or potentially locked door, choose your metaphor), now it's just a question of waiting (and paying...).

Strange times...

This is really exceptionally well presented.

Homeschooling - in French ...

Recently discovered blog in French about home-/un-schooling. (Someone we met recently)

Leysin

On New Year's Eve, I took a contingent of the in-laws up the mountain to see the view, the snow, the sun, and the beautiful blue sky.

Creation/Evolution

My literal and historical statement: This morning, because it was Monday, after I woke up I went right to work.
YEC take on my statement: This must mean that he did nothing else but roll out of bed and begin working in his pyjamas.
Atheistic Evolutionist’s take on my statement: This statement can’t be true because we know his work place is at least 20 miles away and we know that his work has a policy against coming in pyjamas.
They both miss the point. The point is that it is Monday morning and so the focus of the morning is the return to work. Just because I didn’t mention that I shaved, showered, dressed, ate, and used mu car to travel to work doesn’t make my statement false.

Dommage.
This is a photo from before Christmas (I have some catching up to do!), when our church does a Nativity scene with real animals. Rebecca spent the whole time cuddling a rabbit. It was so calm and cuddly that we seriously considered getting one. The owner ended up disuading us - it was only a baby and was going to get a lot bigger (and possibly nastier).

Oh well...

Guitar Hero

We went ten-pin bowling during the holidays. There were also some arcade games there. Rebecca wanted to try this one, and though she wasn't too great at keeping up, I think, the result is pretty amazing (the stance, the head bobbing, the boots, wild hair, and even the 'tattoos' on the arms!).
