IEL?

Une des raisons pour l'irrégularité croissante de ce blog est que depuis 18 mois je suis impliqué dans la création d'une association pour les parents qui font l'école à domicile (ou l'instruction en famille, ou l'école à la maison, ou le homeschooling) dans notre canton. Cela implique une montagne de mails (que j'arrive à gérer plus ou moins), et d'être organisé, proactif et ne pas oublier des tas de trucs (eh, moins facile!).

C'est intéressant, et un peu effrayant aussi. La scolarité à domicile n'a pas une si longue histoire (récente) dans la culture ici, donc la réaction irréfléchi du simple badaud sera 'contre'. Du coup quand les rumeurs de durcissement circulent, il convient de les prendre au sérieux!

Part of the reason for my increasing irregularity on this here blog is that for the last 18 months or so I've been involved in creating a homeschooling association for this part of Swissland. This involves an inordinate amount of emails (which I'm quite good at), and being organised, proactive and not forgetting stuff (uhrm, not so good).

It's fun, and scary too. Homeschooling doesn't have such a long (recent) history in these parts, so the gut reaction of the 'the man on the street' is agin. So when the authorities start making noises about clamping down, you have to take it seriously.

On a justement fait une belle fête IEF dernièrement, avec une joyeuse foule de enfants et parents, un beau soleil, des discussions passionnantes, et une bonne micro-brasserie à côté!

We had a great homeschooling party a while back, with a lovely crowd of kids and parents, a sunny afternoon, great discussions, and a micro-brewery just next door!
