Some notable differences for us: we don't have a 'CGM' (we do a week every three months, just to see how it's going), and we don't have such 'tight' bounds (it's far more dangerous for children, and as the doctor says, beyond a certain point, the very real present sacrifices for a tiny improvement in blood sugar control far outweigh the hypothetical gains in future quality of life).
