Two watches

Il y a un peu moins de sept ans j'ai acheté une nouvelle montre.

C'est seulement le weekend dernier que la pile est arrivée au bout !

'Malheureusement' quelqu'un m'a offert une nouvelle montre pour Noël (à gauche), alors j'étais partagé, mais pour finir j'ai décidé de remplacer la pile de l'ancienne. La nouvelle est peut-être plus jolie, mais est aussi beaucoup plus mastoc, et puis n'a pas la fonctionnalité radio qui met à jour l'heure chaque nuit, et qui gère les changements d'heure d'été/heure d'hiver tout seul !

Les observateurs remarqueront que les aiguilles et les chiffres ne correspondent pas, mais c'est parce que quand j'ai pris la photo je n'avais pas encore réglé le fuseau horaires et les aiguilles.

Ma première montre était une Casio - j'avais 10 ans, je crois. Il y a encore des technologies qui n'ont pas l'obsolescence programmé. Comme ma tondeuse Wahl qui est increvable, même après 25 ans.

It's only last weekend that the battery ran out!

'Unfortunately' someone gave me a new watch for Christmas, so I was a bit torn, but in the end I decided that I would change the watch on the 'old' one anyway - the new one may be prettier, but it's also enormous, and doesn't have the nightly radio-controlled time update functionality which makes the other watch such a killer. The time is always right, and it handles changes from/to daylight saving on its own too.

The more observant might notice that the hands and the digits are out of whack in this photo: it's because I had only just changed the battery and not set the timezone or hands right.

My first ever watch was a Casio (I was 10, if I recall correctly). Not everything has planned obsolescence. (Another bit of hardware I have that won't die is my Wahl beard/hair trimmer, still going strong after all these years).
