Green island

Toujours de la peine à rattraper le temps perdu ici, désolé! Les observateurs remarqueront que j'ai piqué quelques photos à mon père ici.

C'était notre journée de sortie à Green Island. On a commencé dans le stress, car le bateau partait au moment que nous sommes arrivés dans le parking. Peu après, on a découvert qu'en fait c'était pas notre bateau. Donc on a était ouf! et zut! en même temps.

This was our day trip to Green Island. Which started in a stress, because the boat there was drawing out of the harbour as we arrived in our cars. Shortly afterwards we discovered that it wasn't our boat after all. Ouf, ouch and rats!

On avait une suite d'activités de prévu: en commençant par un tour dans un bateau au fond en verre. Puis un buffer déjeuner, puis du snorkelling pour certains et un tour en semi-sousmarin pour d'autres.

J'ai choisi cette photo car elle montre un grand mollusc du même type qui m'a pincé les fessses pendant mon snorkel!

We had a whole load of activities lined up: a short tour in a glass-bottomed boat, lunch, snorkelling for some and a trip in a semi-submarine for others.

I include this photo of an enormous clam because one of them nipped me behind when I was snorkelling.

Voici Kalia, Pippa et moi-même en train de découvrir les corails et poissons. Au début je trouvais ça peu impressionant - quelques algues et des petits poissons. Mais plus au large c'était époustoufflant de beauté et de variété.

Here Kalia, Pippa and me snorkelling away. I didn't think it was going to be that amazing, and my doubts were confirmed in the first few minutes when all we saw was weeds and a few measly fish. But then we went out a bit further and it was Wow! followed by more Wow!

Evidemment ils trichent à mort en mettant de la nourriture pour poisson pour les attirer au tour du bateau.

Obviously they cheat like crazy: throwing out fish food to get the fish all round the boat.

Vu de Green Island depuis le bateau principal. C'est presque de la taille de la planète du Petit Prince.

Kalia se repose après le snorkelling, comme pour beaucoup de choses elle a commencé par avoir peur, et fini par adorer! On a passé une journée magnifique ensemble, mais si on devait refaire, on ferait moins de choses ou prendrait plus de temps. C'était un peu le stress de courir d'une activité à l'autre.

Kalia having a rest on the way back. As often happens, she started out scared, and ended up loving it! We had a lovely day together, but if we were going to do it again, we'd either opt for doing less, or taking longer, because it was a bit of a stress rushing from one activity to the next.
