Medtronic

Yesterday, on the bouncy castles, Rebecca noticed there was something amiss with her pump. It had a 'key pressed down too long' error. I unplugged her and left her to play while I played with the pump. The symptoms were very weird, but looked like one of the keys was effectively stuck down: first no reaction, then a flurry of phantom key presses doing all kinds of silly stuff.

I tried rebooting, changing the battery, and finally managed to check the history: the stuck key had just given her a monster dose of insulin, which was fortunately interrupted half way through by the alarm. This (plus the bouncing) explained why she came to me feeling a bit 'low'.

Having given her something to eat, I phoned up the hotline to ask if there was anything I could do. The lady on the other end took notes and said she'd phone me back. Which she did, just a few minutes later, and told me that she didn't want to take any risks, so we would courier me a new pump.

One hour later, the driver was at our door with the new pump.

Pretty amazing service! And part of why the pump costs lots of money...
