Cité des enfants

Deuxième jour. Madame enseignait toute la journée (la raison pour laquelle on était à Paris, en fait), alors nous autres sommes partis à la Cité des enfants. Voilà l'affiche des règles du savoir voyager dans le bus: pas trop compliqué! On a pris deux bus et un tram pour y aller.

Second day in Paris. Madame was teaching all day (the actual reason why we were there in the first place), so we headed off to the Cité des enfants (sort of Science Museum). This was the 'Rules of being a good passenger' on a bus. Not too complicated! We took two buses and a tram to get there.

La cité des enfants est divisé en deux sections pour différentes tranches d'âges, à l'intérieur de chaque section il y a des thèmes: les filles ont passé un bon moment dans la partie 'télé': ici Kalia s'amuse avec l'écran vert.

The cité des enfants is split into two areas for different age groups, then each area has several different themes. The girls spent a long time with the 'television' bit: here's Kalia playing with green screening (something that I explained to them a while ago: everytime they see something strange or scary in a film now they say: "Ah, special effects!").

Ce qui m'a vraiment, mais vraiment énervé c'est qu'ils te mettent à la porte au bout d'une heure et demie, que tu aies fini ou pas. Alors on est sorti dehors, pour manger notre piquenique (au soleil!), avant de payer une deuxième fois, et attendre pour retourner dedans.

The one thing that really REALLY annoyed me is that after an hour and a half they kick you out, whether you've finished or not. So we went outside, had our picnic (in the sun!), they I had to pay again and wait to get back in again.

Dans la partie 'eau': elles pompe des bulles d'air dans des colonnes d'eau. Ce qui me fait penser: c'était ce week-end où j'ai décidé de creuser l'histoire du soif insatiable (et des pipis incessants) de Rebecca. Je lui ai donné une bouteille de 50cl, qu'elle devait me donner pour remplir à chaque fois que c'était vide. Ce qu'elle a fait 4 fois sur une journée (une journée maussade, en plus). Ca fait deux litres et demi, pour une petite fée qui pèse 18kg. Voilà pourquoi le lendemain de notre retour je l'ai envoyé chez la pédiatre...

In the water section, pumping bubbles through different couloured waters. Which reminds me: this was the weekend where I really wanted to get to the bottom of Rebecca's strange new thirst and piddling problem. I gave her her own water bottle, which she had to ask me to refill. 5 x 50cl in 24 hours, that's two and a half litres, for a 18kg fairy. This is why I sent them to the doctor's when we got back...
