Some of the beautiful buildings. At this stage we were drawing the the close of the second day, and starting to stress about all the things we hadn't yet seen!
A craft session. They had a wooden bar in the shape of Switzerland. You had to cut off a slice, sand it, drill it, and mark it.
There were kids all over the place walking around with their wooden 'medallions'.
The girls tried a bit of knitting too.
Quelques photos des intérieurs de maison.
Here's a few photos of inside one of the houses.
Seeing the living conditions and being reminded of the grinding poverty and many hours of hard work just to make ends meet kind of put a dent in my hazy nostalgia for this bygone era (that I've never directly experienced).
Interestingly we got to chatting with an old chap while we were there, who said quite the opposite. Visiting Ballenberg made him nostalgic about past times, when life was simpler, and people were closer to nature and to each other.
