Week-end

Arggh, c'était trop court ! Comme disait mon collègue, Nico, un long week-end ce n'est pas assez pour que le travail te manque, mais c'est assez pour que les vacances te manquent !

Tout s'est bien passé, le voyage à l'aller (train, avion, voiture) a commencé à 8h du matin (heure suisse) et fini à 17h30 (heure anglaise) - avec une bonne pause entre deux pour manger chez ma grandmère.

On a eu un peu peur en arrivant à l'aéroport - il pleuvait et faisait très froid - et nous étions là dans nos t-shirts ! On oublie vite les aléas de la météo britannique.

Je ne me suis trompé de côté de route qu'une seule fois et sans incidence facheuse. La fête des 90 ans de ma grandmère s'est très bien passé le samedi, malgré la météo mitigée. On a revu des cousins pour la première fois depuis x années, et rencontré pour la première fois 6 de leurs enfants.

Le dimanche on a passé chez mes parents avec ma soeur et mon frère et sa famille. On a eu une journée ensoleillée, tranquille et beaucoup de plaisir à être ensemble. J'ai même réussi à me brûler au soleil english.

Le voyage de retour a aussi démarré à 8h du matin, cette fois-ci c'est la météo suisse qui nous a fait souffrir : pas de climatisation sur les trains !

Kalia a été très facile, même si elle a dû dormir à chaque fois à un endroit différent. Elle a eu un sourire pour tout le monde, et a fait des câlins à tout plein de gens. Elle a aussi beaucoup aimé sa cousine Bethany qui lui faisait rire.

La prochaine fois on fera plus long...

It was way too short! As one of my colleagues said this morning - a long weekend isn't short enough for you to miss being at work, but it's short enough for you to miss being on holiday!

Everything went very well - the trip there (by train, plane and car) started at 8 in the morning (Swiss time), and ended at 17:30 (UK time), with a stop in between for lunch at my Gran's.

We had a bit of a shock when we got out of the plane, as it was tipping it down and freezing cold. And we'd come in just our t-shirts!

I only drove on the wrong side of the road once, and fortunately realised my mistake before having an accident! My Gran's 90th birthday party went really well, in spite of a bit of drizzle and grey skies. I saw all my 'long lost' cousins, and 6 'new' children. And I ate too much (for a change).

Sunday we spent at my parents 'country residence' with my sister and brother, and his family. It was a nice sunny day, not too hot, and we had a good restful time together. I even managed to get a genuine English sun burn.

The return trip also started at 8 in the morning, we suffered a bit on the train trip coming back from the airport - it was very hot and the air-conditioning (if there was any) didn't work much.

Kalia was very easy all weekend, even if she changed bed nearly every night! She gave everyone lots of smiles and cuddles. She got on very well with her cousin Bethany who managed to get her to laugh and smile a lot.

Next time we'll stay longer...
