Swiss Organ Museum ... Musée suisse de l'orgue

Le musée suisse de l'orgue est situé à 20 minutes de chez nous. Il y a quelques semaines, je suis allée avec les filles, et on s'est fait un tour guidé par un monsieur très ancien, et très gentil. Et très intéressant: sur 1 heure et demi, les filles n'ont pas du tout décroché.

The Swiss Organ Museum is only a short drive from our place. A few weeks ago, I went there with the girls, and we had a personalised guided tour from the rather ancient 'father' of the museum. He was very kind, and interesting: he managed to keep the girls' attention for an hour and a half.

Cet orgue est entièrement en bois, et a été construit par un facteur d'orgue pendant son temps libre (pour se changer les idées!).

This organ has all-wood pipes, and was built by an organ builder in his spare time (just for a change!).

Un harmonium avec un petit clavier intéressant: c'était des accords 'préprogrammés' qui permettait à n'importe qui de jouer les hymnes.

This harmonium has a strange numbered keyboard: it has pre-set chords which were allowed anyone to play the hymns on a Sunday morning.

 

Les filles se sont installées tout naturellement sur le banc pendant qu'il nous a fait la démonstration de l'ancien orgue de la maison de la radio.

(PS: C'est aussi le titulaire du plus vieil orgue du monde!)

The girls hopped up on the bench either side of him while he demonstrated the organ that used to belong to the regional radio broadcaster.

(PS: Perhaps fittingly he is also the titular organist of the oldest organ in the world!).
