Organic ... L'orgue

It's 2012, which means that this year I'm doing a round number. Half way, so to speak.

Tradition has it that on such occasions, one "does" something special for oneself. I remember (oooh, that makes me feel sooo old) my Dad having a flying lesson on his fortieth. Friends here have used their present money to buy themselves luxury watches. You'll have guessed that that's not likely to happen for me.

This is looking tough.

But... sometime last autumn, a little idea popped back into my head. It's a 30-year-old whim (I can't really call it an ambition) to learn to play the organ. I remember hearing an organist in the Round Chapel in Cambridge when I was 10 (or thereabouts). And even before that, it may well be that the first keyboard I ever played was my grandfather's electric organ.

Hm, looks like an idea that might fit, not a luxury, but 'for me' while also potentially being for others.

All that remained was ... everything.

Now, 5 slow months later, I've 'got' an organ, and found a teacher (English. Reminds me a teeny bit of Pop, though I haven't told him so!). Now all that remains is to coordinate our diaries (yes, organs have diaries too).

So, if you contribute to the birthday fund, it will get spent on: books, DVDs, shoes, and lessons.

And you're going to have to get used to reading about my latest discoveries here. (Health warning, I've a information-oholic, and there is LOTS of it).
