(On me réclame des photos de Rebecca. Patience, ça va venir !)La catégorisation est un des éléments de base de notre intelligence humaine (pas de citation pour appuyer ce propos, j'ai décidé que c'est comme ça, un point c'est tout).
Pour autant que vous ayez eu un petit contact avec la psychologie, vous avez peut-être entendu parler de PAE (Parent-Adulte-Enfant), ou des 9 types d'intelligence, ou des introvertis et extravertis.
Plus jeune (et moins sûr de mon identité), toute idée de me catégoriser me faisait hérisser les poils. Non au déterminisme !
Mais je me suis rendu compte que toutes ces catégorisations servent à dire quelque chose sur un ou deux points précis, mais qu'aucune catégorisation suffit à rendre compte de toute la diversité de l'humanité.
Du reste, pourquoi en rester aux catégorisations psychologiques ?
La semaine passée, un de mes collègues s'est amusé à essayer de trouver un caractère du monde de la Guerre des Etoiles pour correspondre à chaque membre de notre département (je vous laisse imaginer pour moi : disons que c'était basé sur mon prénom). On peut aussi essayer de choisir un animal pour représenter la personnalité de quelqu'un (oui, c'est un des thèmes du film La Boussole d'Or (cliquer sur français, puis Daemons, puis l'hermine), mais ce n'était pas la première fois que j'ai entendu cette idée.)
Mais aujourd'hui, je vous propose les caractères du monde de Winnie l'Ourson :

- Grand Gourou

If you have had even a tiny exposure to psychology, you may have come across categories like 'Parent-Adult-Child' (if that's how it translates), or the 9 types of intelligence, or introverts and extroverts.
When I was younger and less sure of myself, I found any attempts to categorise me very unsettling. No determinism for me, mate!
But I eventually realised that no one set of categories can give a full picture of the diversity of humanity, they just help to highlight a few interesting characteristics.
Moving on from there, why stop at lists that psychologists have invented?
Last week, one of my colleagues had fun trying to find a Star Wars character for each of the members of our department (I'll let you guess which one I was. Hint - it was based on my name). Or you can try and think of an animal to represent a particular personality (I know, that is one of the themes for the Golden Compass (choose English, then Daemons, then click on the stoat (weasel? ferret?)*), but I had already heard it before).
