Alls well that ends well ...

English readers need to start here, or even here, if you didn't already.

So, I set out from home again at 12.36 (Saturday), Then flight from Geneva at 15.15, flight from Heathrow at 20pm (UK time, one hour behind swiss time), then departure from Nairobi at 8 in the morning (6am UK time)

Unlike Dad (who left in the 'same' flight as me, but 12 hours before), I went over Kilimanjaro in day time, so I got a photo of it. I learnt since that it is not only the highest mountain in Africa, it is also the largest isolated one in the world (outside of any mountain range).

Got to Dar-es-Salaam at 9.20.

The visa was pretty quick (after having through about 7 sets of hands in their 'production line), and 'Amani' the taxi driver picked me up to take me to the Passionista fathers. You can continue reading the next chapter back over on my brother and sister-in-laws blog (where you came from, if you've been reading properly).

Waking up at 5h30 was a bit tough (that's 3.30 UK time, 4.30 'my' time), we got driven back to the airport again - but this time to the terminal for internal flights. It was a bit more ramshackle, but we still got a security check - scanners and metal detectors.

Then we climbed into a Cessna Caravan run by MAF (The organisation my brother is in Tanzania with/for).

I was lucky, 'cos I got (ok, I asked) to sit next to the pilot - headphones, mike, the works. I didn't do any flying (ok, I didn't ask!), but I got to watch everything close up. And realised once again that flying is probably the easiest thing about flying. The hard stuff is talking to people with limited English over a limited radio, and all in Charly, Delta, Foxtrot.

Happy detail - the pilot was swiss, and was an engineer in a past life, so we weren't short of things to chat about.

At last - at last, 64 hours after having left work on Friday evening, I arrived at Dodoma, where Libby, Bethany and Caleb were waiting for us.

Think I've done enough travelling for a moment...

Well, till Thursday anyway!
