Behind ... En retard

Avant de partir en vacances, j'avais préparé un paquet d'articles à l'avance. Maintenant je suis complètement en retard. On a été en Angleterre, on a fait 2 semaines de 'vacances' chez des amis à la campagne, et on a aussi regardé l'ouverture des JO, et demain c'est le 1er août! Que des sujets à aborder ici, si peu de temps...

I prepared a whole load of posts in advance before going on holiday. Now it's the complete opposite. We've been to the UK, had two weeks 'change is as good as a rest' and some friend's house in the countryside. We watched the opening ceremony of the Olympics, and tomorrow it's "Switzerland Day". So many subjects for this blog, so little time...

Solar Impulse

Voilà, hier soir sur un petit coup de tête, on est parti après le souper pour voir atterrir l'avion Solar Impulse, qui revenait de Maroc (via Madrid et Toulouse). On n'a pas pu s'approcher comme je l'espérais, mais c'était une chouette petite expérience à vivre en famille.

Je n'ignore pas l'ironie d'avoir fait 110km pour aller voir un avion écologique :)

Autre ironie: je trouve que Solar Impulse est plus ou moins une démonstration de combien l'énergie solaire n'est PAS adapté pour le transport.

Yesterday evening, on a whim, we went to see Solar Impulse landing, on its way back from Maroc (via Madrid and Toulouse). We didn't get as close as I'd hoped, but it was a nice thing to do as a family.

The irony of driving a 110km round trip to see an ecological plane isn't lost on me.

Also ironically: I think that this plane is pretty much a demonstration of the fact that solar energy isn't really the solution for transportation.

Un dernier article sur nos vacances au sud. Avec une photo des filles dans un bon moment (il y en a eu pas mal - avec quelques crises de soeur quand même).

C'est drôle, on est parti en vacances depuis la Suisse, où il pleuvait, et on est arrivé au sud, où il pleuvait. Après on a eu 3 semaines presque que du beau, puis pour le retour, il a plu tout le long.

Pendant les vacances, on a aussi visité le Vieux Mas (moins bien que La Ferme Enchantée, à mon avis, plus musée que détente), où Rebecca a eu droit de donner le biberon à un agneau! Malheureusement, les piles de mon appareil photo m'ont laissé tomber...

One last post about our holidays in the South of France, with a photo of the girls in one of their many 'good' moments, where they create their own little worlds.

Funny that we left Switzerland in the rain, arrived with it raining, then had 3 weeks of pretty much excellent weather, and then came back with it raining all the way again.

One other place we visited was the Vieux Mas (not as good as La Ferme Enchantée, in my opinion, more museum than play), but unfortunately I didn't get any photos of Rebecca bottle feeding a lamb, because the batteries on my camera were flat.

Babyland

L'avant dernier jour, j'ai ramené les filles au Grau-du-Roi, pour aller à Babyland (qui était fermé quand on a visité le Seaquarium).

On the penultimate day, I took the girls back to Grau-du-Roi, to visit Babyland, which was closed when we went the first time.

Rebecca s'est risqué à faire de la moto, pour la première fois toute seule.

Rebecca tried her hand on the motorbike, for the first time on her own.

Elles avaient 4 jetons chacune, mais ce sont arrangés pour les partager pour faire un maximum de choses ensembles.

Then had 4 tokens each, but worked it so that they did a maximum of things together.

Par exemple du trampoline.

Like bouncing on the trampoline.

Après elles ont joué sur les sculptures devant le Seaquarium.

After that, they played a bit on the sculptures in front of the Seaquarium.

 

Pour terminer en beauté, on a passé un moment sur la plage, même s'il n'y avait pas un rayon de soleil.

And to round things off, half an hour 'saying good by to the seaside' (the sun was already gone).

By night

Quand j'ai dit à Rebecca que non, j'allais pas lui acheter un jouet au supermarché, elle a revu ses exigences à la baisse et demandé de la peinture. Elle était pressée pour l'essayer après!

When I said she couldn't have a toy from the shop, she downgraded her request to some paints. She was in a real hurry to try them afterwards!

Un soir, notre hôte/voisin a mis toutes les lumières pour ne montrer l'expérience "by night". C'était féerique.

One evening, our neighbour/host turned on the lights so we could see the illuminations. This photo would have been better with a tripod, but it's still not bad.

 

Vue comme ça, ça fait envie, mais j'avoue ne pas avoir essayé.

The pool looks pretty good by night (though I admit to not having tried swimming in it in the dark).

Un conseil: ne traversez par la Camargue le soir en moto!

Advice: don't drive across the Camargue at high speed on a motorbike in the evening!
