J'en ai pas parlé ici, mais ça fait maintenant quelques mois que toute la famille assiste aux répétitions pour la Fête des Vignerons, hier était la première répétition où tous les figurants ont pu resté dans l'arène pour voir à quoi ça ressemblait. Il y avait une super bonne ambiance, et des applaudissements enthousiastes pour chaque groupe et tableau.

Au début j'étais un peu dubitatif par rapport au 'produit fini' - compte tenu de ce que je voyais de la qualité de notre prestation pendant les répétitions ! Mais là je dois dire que les billets sont peut-être chers, mais ça les vaut? Au point où je commençais à regretter d'être figurant - car en tant que figurant on loupe beaucoup. Mais je suis réconcilié avec mon sort depuis hier, surtout que nous avons préparé ensemble une finale d'enfer !

Alors n'hésitez plus, il faut voir ça !

I haven't mentioned this (I think) here, but we've been rehearsing for the last few months for the big, anachronistic once-ever-twenty-years-or-so jamboree called "La Fête des Vignerons". Which is difficult to describe - think of an Olympic opening ceremony, every day for about a month, with a whole town converted into a kind of fairground.

Yesterday we had our first rehearsal where all the actors could watch while they weren't actually on stage (there are 5500 of us, so it's not a logistical given). There was an amazing atmosphere - stamps, whoops and claps after each act.

I had had my doubts about the end results - especially seeing the quality of what our particular group had managed during rehearsals. But I must say that even if the tickets are expensive, they are definitely worth the money. I was even starting to regret being an actor, as you always have to miss a bit of the show while you're getting ready backstage. But yesterday made me happy to be a part of the adventure, and we rehearsed an amazing finale which will be great fun.

So yeah, if you were hesitating, buy your ticket!

Fascinating, terrifying ... Terrifiant, fascinant

Le cerveau humain est un appareil magnifique, mais bricolé, dans lequel des structures plus récentes et plus sophistiquées se trouvent au sommet d'un tas de cerveaux prototypes encore utilisés par des espèces inférieures. Au sommet de l'appareil se trouvent les parties les plus intelligentes et les plus agiles : le cortex préfrontal, qui pense et analyse, et l'hippocampe, qui fabrique et maintient nos souvenirs immédiats. En bas, les ganglions basaux, presque identiques au cerveau des lézards, contrôlent les actions volontaires mais à peine conscientes.

Ca c'est la partie fascinante : Je pense que j'ai déjà mentionné comment, étant donné ce modèle du cerveau humain (et la notion psychologique de "sous-personnalités" avec laquelle il est en corrélation - pensez au film Vice Versa), la notion de la Trinité (trois en un) ne devrait pas trop nous déranger.

La partie terrifiante, c'est qu'il s'agit d'un extrait de un article sur le phénomène "J'ai été distrait et mon bébé est rôti à mort dans la voiture". Ames sensibles s'abstenir.

That's the fascinating bit: I think I've mentioned before how given this model of the human brain (and the psychological notion of "sub-personalities" which it correlates with - think Inside Out), the notion of the Trinity (three in one) shouldn't bother us so much.

The terrifying bit is that this is an extract from an article about the "I was distracted and my baby roasted to death in the car" phenomenon. Not for the faint of heart.
