Je vous ai abandonné un temps, et vous m'en voulez. Ca se ressent. J'ai même eu des jours avec zéro visites !

Eh ben oui, c'est comme ça, la vie va trop vite, et puis y'a certains trucs qu'on n'arrive plus à assumer comme avant. L'absence d'appareil photo n'aide pas. Avant je pouvais au moins afficher vite une photo en guise d'excuse.

Pour l'appareil toujours pas de nouvelles. Pour la voiture non plus. Je me suis décidé de me focaliser sur les Ford Focus, qui semble être le plus fiable des breaks dans la taille que je cherche.

Par ailleurs, j'ai trouvé ça récemment, comme maquette et je trouve sympa, même si je ne suis pas du tout sûr que je m'en servirais.

A part ça, rien à signaler. Le week-end passé on était à une fête de famille en Angleterre. Très sympa. Jeudi prochain on part pour un mariage en Bretagne (ça va être une expérience...)

Well, I've been away a long time, and you feel hard done by. You've even stopped coming back regularly. I can tell from the statistics - there've even been days when no-one has been to visit... Can't say I blame you.

But hey, that's life - things happen too fast, and some stuff you can't keep up with. At least when I had the camera I could just throw up a quick photo as an excuse for a post.

No news on the camera front. Or on the car front for that matter. I've pretty much decided that the statistics show that the Ford Focus is the most reliable car in the size and shape we need.

Found this on the web recently, though it was a nice idea, though I'm not sure I'd ever use it.

Apart from that, nothing extraordinary - last weekend we were in the UK for a very nice family do, next weekend we're going to a wedding in Brittany, which will be something of an experience...

Stuff ... choses

Pas grandes choses de structuré à dire, mais quelques bribes de papotage :?

Cette semaine j'ai été pour la première fois dans une vraie banque privée typique suisse - très discret, caché au found d'un couloir etc... (c'était pour déposer mes millions, vous l'avez compris)

J'ai toujours pas amené mon appareil photo pour voir s'ils peuvent me le réparer

J'ai enfin reçu ma carte 'Mobility' - maintenant il faut juste une excuse pour l'essayer.

J'ai enfin un nouveau natel, pour remplacer ma 'cabine téléphonique' - comme certains l'ont surnommé. Cabine téléphonique qui m'a servi pendant 6 ans, et que je compte bien garder au cas où - le nouveau m'a l'air nettement moins durable.

Il fait chaud, mais les prévisions de ForecastFox me disent qu'il va y avoir de la tempête.

This week I went to real swiss bank - the kind which has no shop front and which you get to through a gloomy corridor, with a little plaque on the door. (as you may have guessed, it was to enquire about investing my millions)

I still haven't taken my camera to see if they can repair it

I've finally received my Mobility card - now I just need an excuse to go and try it.

I've got a new mobile too, to replace my 'phone box' as some have ungraciously nick-named it. I shall be hanging onto the phone box too, as it has served me 6 years, and I doubt that the new one will. (For info, I've had the 'new' one for about 3 years too, but with no battery - I only recently found a site which sold cheap batteries.

It's hot here - but ForecastFox tells me that there's a storm brewing - so much the better!

Cyber Budget

Ce serait drôle si ce n'était pas vrai.

Mais c'est vrai, et c'est toujours drôle.

Dans un effort d'éduquer le publique français, et on peut supposer aussi le rendre plus ouvert au changement (c'est pas un gros mot en français ?), le ministre des finances a lancé un jeu sur internet, où n'importe qui peut aller jouer à gérer le budget de la France.

Je ne suis pas encore arrivé à la fin, mais malgré mes boutades, je trouve que c'est une idée incroyable, et je salue la personne qui a eu le cran de mettre tout ça en place. J'imagine qu'il a du se battre pour y arriver...

In an a combined effort of public relations and public information, the French finance ministry has launched an online game where anyone can try their hand at running the French budget.

It's a very clever idea, and though I haven't finished, I think it's excellently presented. Whether it achieves what is was set up for remains to be seen, but I think it's a very innovative step compared to churning out a ream of leaflets, adverts etc..

Snow ... Neige

Avec un peu de retard, voilà une photo de la neige qu'il y avait le jour de mon anniversaire (31 mai). C'était assez exceptionnel, il faut dire !

On aurait encore plus de peine à le croire maintenant- étant donné qu'il fait super-beau et assez chaud ce week-end.

Je trouve assez difficile ces week-end de beau temps - car l'après-midi j'ai qu'une envie - c'est de faire la sieste. Mais après il y a un petit regret d'avoir loupé tout ce soleil.

Heureusement que Dieu a fait que les journées soient plus longues en été - comme ça il y a encore le soir pour ratrapper ! (Sur ce, m'en vais m'allonger sur la chaise longue sur le balcon)

Slightly delayed, here is visual proof of the snow which fell on (and before) my birthday (31st May). Quite exceptional, even in a place with as changeable weather as here.

It seems even more unbelievable now, as there are bright blue skies and relatively high temperatures this weekend (I know that 25C is nothing for some of you, but it's quite hot compared to last week for us!)

I find that hot weather at the weekend puts me in a bit of a quandry. A good siesta is what I most like in the afternoon, but afterwards I worry about having missed all that nice weather.

I guess it's a good thing that God made summer days longer too. That way you have the evening to make up for lost time.

(And now I'm going to go and lie on my deckchair on the balcony...)

Blackout ... Tout noir

C'est une tragédie de proportions galatiques.

C'est mon mois de poisse et de pas-de-chance.

Ce week-end passé, mon appareil photo a rendu l'âme. En l'espace de quelques minutes, alors que je n'ai pas l'impression de l'avoir brusqué, il est devenu aveugle. Sur son petit écran il arrive à afficher les photos déjà prises, mais y'a plus que du noir dans les nouvelles photos.

Le pire est que ça ne semble pas être un cas isolé - d'autres ont eu le même problème...

En cherchant l'endroit où j'avais trouvé ces informations, je suis tombé sur un lienqui dit que peut-être j'ai une chance de me le faire réparé... on verra.

A part ça, tout le monde va bien. Je me suis inscrit pour 4 mois d'essaie à Mobility. La puce continue à nous étonner. Je regrette d'autant plus mon appareil photo que ces jours il fait beau et qu'en petite robe elle est vraiment craquante. On pense qu'elle va se mettre à parler ce mois-ci. Ces derniers jours, elle s'est mis très discrètement à repéter certains mots qu'on dit (bien sûr, qu'une seule fois, et jamais quand on le lui demande !).

Either that or it's bad luck month for me.

This weekend, my camera died between two photos. Well, died, it went blind. The screen works, the zoom works, the shutter works, but all the photos come out black.

Unfortunately, from trawling the web for a while I gather that I am not alone and quite a lot of people have had problems too.

However, while seeking out relevant links for this post, I came accross this message which gives me some small hope that repairing the camera won't cost more than a new car...

Other than that, we are all well. I really regret not having my camera now as the weather is nice, and Kalia is humongously cute in her little summer dresses. We reckon she's going to start talking real soon. These last few days she's started surreptitiously repeating the odd word that we say, though obviously never when we want her to!

I've signed up for a 4-month trial of Mobility car sharing. Haven't tried it yet, but it gives me a 30% discount on hire cars, which isn't to be sneezed at...
