Syndey 2

Jour 2 à Sydney, nos amis sont venus avec nous en famille pour aller visiter Manly de l'autre côté de l'estuaire. J'ai bien aimé ses bateaux bi-directionnels.

Second day in Sydney, we met up with our friends at Circular Quay (which is not circular) and took a ferry to visit Manly on the other side of the bay. I really liked these push-me-pull-you boats.

Avec les ibis, ces sortes de dindes sont très communs en Australie (enfin, le peu qu'on en a vue). Ca m'a frappé que les seuls oiseaux que j'ai remarqué qui m'étais connus d'ici étaient les pigeons et les mouettes.

Ibis are as common there as sparrows here, as are these bush fowl. I was surprised by the fact that the only birds in common with here (from my observation) were pigeons and seagulls.

Nos amis Luc, Carine, Elona et Joris. Bientôt de retour en Suisse après trois ans à Sydney avec Hillsong.

Luc, Carine, Elona and Joris will be on there way back to Switzerland next year, after spending 3 years at Hillsong.

Nous avons pu assisté à une rencontre à Hillsong. Malheureusement c'était un truc "pour les jeunes" alors les deux personnes à droite dans cette photo ont plutôt souffert que profité :(

We got to go and take part in a service and Hillsong. Unfortunately it was the Saturday evening more youth-oriented service, so several decibels above what the two people on the right of the photo could bear (though we did sit it out 'til the end, fingers in earholes). I honestly think it was in potential hearing damage range.

Le célébre Harbour Bridge était visible depuis notre hôtel.

C'est drôle que ce bâtiment est devenu (avec Ayres Rock) un symbôle de l'Australie. Je ne suis pas sûr que je le trouve beau, mais c'est très fascinant.

Amazing that this building should (with Ayres Rock) should have come to be the symbol of Australia. I'm not even sure I think it's that beautiful. Just strange and intriguing.

On a vu plusieurs artistes de rue qui proposaient quelque chose gratuitement ou 'à votre bon plaisir'. Les filles ont voulu avoir leurs nom en caractères japonais. Kalia a fini par sacrifier son propre nom pour pouvoir prendre pour ses amis et son cousin.

We came across quite a few street artists or hawkers who were 'giving' things away for whatever you wanted to give them. The girls wanted to get their names in Japanese. Kalia quite sweetly forwent her own name in order to get some for her friends and cousin.

La vue depuis l'hôtel 30 heures et demi plus tard, après avoir fait 3 heures de train, 2 heures d'attente à Zurich, 11h30 d'avion jusqu'à Hong Kong, deux heures d'attente, puis 9 heures d'avion jusqu'à Sydney, puis passage de l'aéroport, et enfin prendre un taxi jusqu'à l'hôtel.

Ouf!

Nos amis Luc & Carine nous avait informé avec regret qu'ils ne pourraient pas venir nous chercher, leur voiture étant trop petite. Mais quelle jolie surprise de voir qu'ils sont quand même venus nous accueillir lors de nos premiers pas dans ce pays à l'envers!
 

The view from the hotel 30.5 hours later. Having done 3 hours of train, 2 hours wait in Zurich, 11.5 hours flight to Hong Kong, another 2 hours wait, then 9 hour flight to Sydney, then getting through the airport, then taxi to hotel.

Our friends Luc & Carine had told us they wouldn't be able to come and pick us up because their car is too small. So it was a lovely surprise to have them turn up in spite of that just to welcome us to Australia!
